Strawberries are now in-season. Therefore, I would like to highlight some facts about eating seasonally:
Eating seasonally does not automatically mean that you are eating environmentally sustainable food. The major part of food’s environmental impact does not stem from so called food miles but from its production. Nevertheless, transportation and refrigeration are reduced by consuming products that are in-season.
By eating seasonally, overseas contaminates are avoided. Many countries do not have very strict laws regarding the usage of chemicals for food production.
Seasonal products taste better because they have been naturally ripened. On that note: Bon appetite 😊!
Ingredients:
60g oats
1 apple (grated)
10g chia seeds
1 spoon raw cocoa powder
5 strawberries
Instructions:
Mix the apple, oats, chia seeds and cocoa power in a pot and cover it with water. Let is cook for about 3-4 minutes until it is creamy, while stirring it occasionally (you don’t want it to burn). Let it cool for a few minutes. Put the porridge on a plate and add the strawberries.
